Description
Eucomis Autumnalis (pineapple lily). Frost hardy. Perennial. Sweetly Scented, Summer flowering. Ideal for the herbaceous border, pots and containers. an interesting bulb to grow, when in bloom you can see why the flower is referred to as the pineapple lily with the tip of the flower being finished with what appears to be a tuft of foliage. Native habitat: Drakensberg mountains.

Planting Guide
Plant: March-April with 1 cm of soil on top of the bulb. Spacing 12 cm. Flowers July-August. Height 20-30 cm.
Thrives in full sun or light shade. Needs fertile, well drained but moist soil. Ideal for mass planting amongst shrubs or in front borders where they can be left to increase into drifts. Also ideal for rockeries, pots and containers. Feed with a slow release fertiliser during the growing season. Cover with a mulch in the winter to protect from frost.
Propagate by dividing clumps when overcrowded roughly every 4 years.
