Dahlia Imperialis. Bell (Tree) Type. Dahlia Imperialis is grown for its towering bamboo like stems reaching as tall as 2.5m – 3 m (300 cm) with a mass of elder-like foliage reaching 1m in spread.
A fabulous foliage plant for the tropical garden theme or for gardeners that enjoy a challenge. This dahlia naturally flowers late: buds appear late September, flowering time October, therefore, maybe caught out by early frost.
However there is a chance you can have this plant flowering providing you have a warm sheltered spot in the garden, a large greenhouse or conservatory. If the climate is warm enough you will be rewarded with an abundance of beautiful bell-like flower during early to late autumn.
