Sprekelia ‘Formosissima’ Half hardy. Perennial. Suitable for a sunny border or in cool areas as a houseplant. The spectacular flower is six inches in size and resembles that of an orchid, borne on a 18 inch stem, The petals that make up the flower are a velvety crimson with a green throat. A must have for all those who like growing plants, one for the collection!.

Planting Guide
Plant: April with 5 cm soil on top of the bulb. Spacing 20 cm. Flowers June. Height 30-40 cm.
Tender. Perennial. Best grown in pots, indoors or in the greenhouse. If growing outdoors, find an open sunny spot with well-drained soil and mulch over in the winter. For growing in pots use a potting compost, John Innes No. 2 or 3. After flowering attractive strap grey green foliage will appear and last through to winter.
Propagation: Remove bulblets in spring.
