Eranthis Hyemalis, (winter aconite). Fully hardy. Clump forming. Perennial. Needs partial shade with well-drained soil. These little beauties are ideal for under shrubs deciduous trees, or in the rockery. Beautiful buttercup-like flowers with tufts of green bracts beneath to set them off can appear as early as January and finish flowering in March. An absolutely perfect plant to keep the snowdrops company and to cheer up those winter weary eyes.

Plant: September-November. 5 cm deep. Spacing 8 cm. Flowers February-March. Height 5-12 cm.
Hardy. Perennial. Needs partial shade with well-drained soil in a sheltered place. ideal for naturalising under deciduous trees or shrubs. Can also be grown in pots indoors or out. They are a perfect partner for snowdrops (Galanthus) that will flower around the same time.
Propagate: Lift and divide clumps in early summer and replant at the same time.
