Description
Cosmos atrosanguineus, (chocolate cosmos). Half hardy perennial. Needs sun and moist, rich soil. This is a striking plant with dark crimson, poppy-like flowers against dark green foliage. Known as chocolate cosmos due to the unusual aroma. Needs to be covered with a thick mulch in winter.

Planting Guide
Plant: March-April. 10 cm deep. Spacing 45 cm. Flowers July-September. Height 60 cm.
Tender. Perennial. Needs full sun with well-drained but moist soil. Feed with a slow release fertilizer when in growth. Can be grown in the ground or in large pots. During the winter months cover with a mulch to protect from frost.
Propagation: By dividing tubers when clumps are large enough, use a sharp knife and cover wound with sulphur powder.
